Nairobi’s 450-megawatt generating plant is meeting the growing electricity needs of the city. The facility utilizes advanced natural gas combined-cycle technology and emission control equipment to maximize efficiency and environmental performance. The plant consists of two units, each with a specific function. A 210-megawatt unit operates during periods of high demand. Generation is sold directly to Engage Energy through a long-term tolling agreement. A second unit generates 140 megawatts that are sold in the wholesale power markets. Work included construction staking and material testing.
